Chinese Chess Emperor Set

If you are a fan of visually appealing chess sets, a collector, or just a hobbyist then you have probably heard of the Chinese chess emperor set.  Unlike regular chess sets, this one features emperors as the pieces instead of the standard ones.  Travel back in time to when the great emperor Khan’s ruled China.  On some of these sets, the kings can be seen wearing yellowish gold robes, which is what I’m guessing was the standard wardrobe of the imperial rulers.  The queens on the other hand, have very colorful robes on which is reflective to how the women dressed in the far eastern lands. Don’t forget, there are still the knights on the horses with the riders gloating their swords, and the powerful, unruly bishops.

Of course, this is a generic overview of a Chinese chess emperor set, as different companies may deploy different colors and outfits for the pieces.  These sets also come in different styles to choose from.  It may come in metallic, or ivory, or whatever else.  It all depends on the manufacturer.  One thing for sure is, it will definitely stand out from any other standard chess set you have seen.  Some people purchase these strictly for collecting, some to add excitement to their game, or just to show off to their friends.

Remember, when you are going to purchase one of these sets, make sure to look around first and see if it’s the right design for you.  Like I said earlier, they come in different designs, and also different materials are used  in the sets.  So don’t just decide to purchase the first one you see, unless you don’t care too much about the other styles, then go right ahead.  No matter which one you choose, you will have a beautiful unique chess set in your home.
